This guitar has two serial numbers. The first is the basic Martin serial number, 1237549, which dates it to 2006. The second is 13348, on the label below Clapton’s signature, and identifies its sequence in this model’s production. The original hard shell case is included.

The serial number can usually be found on the back of the headstock. The first two digits of the serial number will usually indicate the year that the guitar was made. Another way to check the year of your guitar is to look at the model number. The model number can usually be found on the inside of the sound hole.

The first link that you listed is not strictly a serial number chart but rather a list put together her on the UMGF to show when Martin made certain important changes and the serial numbers when those changes were initiated at the factory. Older Martins often need substantial work to restore them to excellent playability. Recently a 1977 Martin D-18 was brought to me for evaluation. The guitar needed a neck reset, fret work, bridge plate repair, and cracks in the top repaired. A new bone saddle and nut were also recommended.
