It's based on Fenix 6X (shares all the same features), and in many people's opinion is a little more sleek and refined looking. Plus is has sapphire AND solar, while Fenix can only have one or the other. I would have bought it if it had been out when I bought my 6X, but it didn't come out until later.
Fenix, pricy but worth it. I have the Fenix 6s pro solar. If you plan to get one just stick with the regular/pro. Don’t bother with the solar yet. Totally worth it, and don’t go with the other new brands. Garmin has a history and experience for gps and outdoor league activities! They may seem cool and fancy, but pay for what’s familiar.

I have a Fenix 3 and am seriously considering upgrading. Getting a 6X Pro would be awesome. However, like you, the price is a serious consideration. I've been looking at used and refurbished 5X for around $300-399 here in the US. The 5X Plus are in the $400's Either the 5X or 5X Plus would be major upgrades. However, the 6X Pro would be the

Assuming you can get fairly decent readings (which the current F6 sensor package can't), it is useful at even "non-serious" altitudes, for skiing, gliding, hiking in mountains, etc. Many people feel the influence of altitude from around 2000-2.500 metres high, as the air gets thinner.

The display size is larger on both the 6X and 6 as previously mentioned. Now at 1.4” and 1.3” respectively vs 1.2” on the previous models. The FR945 has a 240 x 240 pixels display at 30.4mm which matches the 5X and 5X plus. The Fenix 6 has had a bump in resolution to 260×260 and the 6X now has 280×280. This is a product comparison between the Garmin Fenix 5 Plus vs Garmin Fenix 6 Pro. The Fenix series has been pioneering the Garmin brand for years, and fans will be glad to know that the Fenix 6 series continues this trend. It’s an absolute beast.
To simplify things, it’s best to view the Pro watches in the new Fenix 6 range as the successors to the Fenix 5 Plus series. I’ve been testing out the Fenix 6 Pro and 6X Pro watches and they

I upgraded from Fenix 5 Plus. I am pleased with the battery life. I am using always on display with 7 workouts a week(3 are 45-60 mins with gps since I’m still in winter mode) and getting over 6 days of battery. In GPS I’m using all satellites too. Screen is great compared to fenix.
Not very experienced with garmin devices, but I just bought a 6x pro a couple days ago, at Cabela's. $699, but they price matched Walmart ($399) and since I'm a cabela's club member, the price match is an extra 5% off. So, about $379. I also had $258 in club points on my cabela's card, so I paid a grand total of $154 out of pocket after tax. The display size has also increased with the fenix 6X at 35.56mm diameter while the fenix 5X plus had 30.4mm diameter. The new fenix 6 also has a better display resolution out 280x280 as opposed to 240x240 on the fenix 5. The other big hardware design difference is the glass on the Pro Solar models. bit torn because the screen on the venu 2+ looks a lot better (plus touchscreen) but the fenix 6 pro has the mapping which would be better for hiking. Just wondered what other people would choose considering there is no price difference? (the 6x is only like £50 more, and the 6s is £100 more for some reason) .
